Types of Yoga

YOGAMIX
This YOGAMIX class gives breath and flow to the twelve postures of yoga. You will become familiar with each movement as you extend or stretch, and exhale as you fold or contract. This YOGAMIX builds strength and increases flexibility in your body. There is a mental awakening with this type of yoga. This class is ideal for the early riser or a before work stress releaser. YOGAMIX class is for you if you are a student with high energy that needs to learn to relax.

SPIRITUAL YOGA
Spiritual Yoga is a type of yoga is holds poses over long periods versus moving quickly from one pose to the next (flow). It integrates the inside and outside of your world through postures.  This class will explore meditation/yoga for you and how it change your perceptions. Meditation is an integral part of this yoga. This yoga class uses yoga blankets, blocks and straps to align the body.

MEDITATION CLASS
Meditation Class is usually passive or receptive for you. The best intentions are from the heart or the center of our being. Our bodies move through yoga lovingly to create insight and understanding for others in the world community. Mediation brings visualization of healing through hearing and feeling through one to others in the world. Yoga postures take on a new meaning as well as visualization through the heart to the spirit. Meditation gives clear thought, vision, and renewed spirit. Mindful breathing brings one back to center where there is a feeling of stillness, peace and joy. Come one, come all.

PARTNER YOGA
This yoga class will have you touch the surface of your love to stir the depths of the soul. Partnership is based on open communication and trust. You move through postures which takes focus and motivation. It takes laughter and play for partnership on and off the mat.

YOGA FLOW
Yoga Flow for Men and Women Most studios frame class offerings in the perspective of a yoga flow style. Robin combines different types of yoga like Iyengar Yoga which yoga focuses on precision of physical alignment, and perfection of posture.” It is also characterized by its use of props, such as belts, cushions, straps, blocks and benches as aids in performing the positions. This popular style of yoga often emphasizes holding poses over long periods, stressing the development of flexibility, strength, stamina, balance and concentration.” All level is welcome. This class is for intermediate and advanced levels.

HATHA YOGA
Hatha Yoga is with gentle movements and poses will help create long muscles and loosen you up. It typically focuses on three aspects: breathing, meditation, and postures. While many beginners are attracted to Hatha yoga for its easier moves and slower pace, it can be a good fit for all fitness levels because of the relaxation and loosening of your muscles, and can be an effective way to relax after a busy or stressful day.

ASURA YOGA
Asura is another form of yoga fit for beginners or those who are nervous trying something new, but have tons of energy, Anusara yoga allows you to let loose some of your extra energy in a way that isn’t typical for yoga. While Anusara yoga doesn’t require you to have previous yoga experience, the upbeat nature of these classes can be perfect for people who thrive on the support and motivation from group classes.

ASHTANGA YOGA
This dynamic, physically demanding practice synchronizes breath and movement to produce an internal heat designed to purify the body. Ashtanga yoga, with its many vinyasas, is great for building core strength and toning the body. Prepare to sweat as you briskly move through a set sequence. Ashtanga Yoga was founded by K. Pattabhi Jois.

KUNDALINI YOGA
Kundalini uses the Root Chakra, and reflects your survival center. Kundalini yoga helps you get and stay in tune with what keeps you grounded and makes you feel secure. You’ll unleash the power of your Root Chakra and build amazing core strength. Some of the poses are more advanced and you’ll definitely be feeling the workout by the end of it. However, the benefits, freeing and stabilizing this energy-filled area, can be quite freeing in itself.

VINIYOGA
Viniyoga is a gentle form of yoga that’s perfect for beginners, people recovering from an injury, or for those who want to warm up their muscles. Your don’t have to be an expert or be able to do advanced moves—the focus is on your breathing and how your body moves, stretches and relaxes. The moves and routines can be customized and altered to suit each individual’s needs and abilities, and these classes are often taught one-on-one. Similar to some other types of yoga, Viniyoga can be a good place to start if you’re new, but even experts can benefit from the gentle moves and spiritual connection you’ll experience.

POWER YOGA
Power yoga requires quite a bit of athleticism and guarantees a challenging and intense workout. If you’re looking for weight loss, this is the right yoga for you. Flowing from pose to pose, you’ll get a great cardiovascular workout while strengthening your muscles and improving your balance. Power yoga typically doesn’t include the spiritual aspect you’ll find in many other forms of yoga, so if you’re looking for a workout that will push you hard and burn tons of calories without the focus on connecting with your inner self, this is the one for you.

HOT YOGA
Hot yoga or Bikram Yoga® is a type of yoga where the temperature is set to 80-degrees-Fahrenheit with a high humidity level, turning your surroundings into a sauna and adding a significant challenge to your workout. You’re obviously going to sweat a lot during this extremely popular form of yoga that includes a standard 26 poses.

IYENGAR YOGA
Iyengar yoga is one of the main styles that uses props like blocks and straps. There’s a lot of focus on doing poses properly and achieving the right alignment. Those with a chronic condition or injury could greatly benefit from this style of yoga because of the focus on doing each move precisely. Getting your body properly aligned is integral to heal well after an injury or to help relieve some chronic medical issues— improper alignment can affect all areas of your body and hinder the healing process.
