The road to becoming a practicing yogi is not an easy one. But then again most things that are worthwhile doing are seldom easy. While yogis don't focus on any reward per say the benefits bestowed upon those who truly live the lifestyle are invaluable.
A day in the life of a yogi may begin just as it does for many with the sounding of the morning alarm. The difference being that a yogi appreciates the day by taking those few precious moments to stretch and breathe before hopping out of bed. On most days a few sun salutations follow a morning shower and then add some balancing poses while brushing teeth.
The drive to work which used to be mundane is now one in which the yogi appreciates the beauty of the bare trees against the darkened sky in winter and the beautiful colors of the flowers in the bright morning sun during the warmer months. Yogis make sure to appreciate the beauty found in nature each and every day.
Breathing through work stress is essential. Box breath. Bees breath hummed lowly. Ouijay breath. As people come and go with work concerns yogis ask themselves "Is this really important?" After more breathing and maybe some shoulder to ear stretches the resounding voice of that special teacher fills the mind, "Not important. Let it go! Let it flow!" The yogi smiles thinking of a funny class time. Ahhhh. It's all good!

Looking forward to practicing with people who have become better friends than one ever imagined. A really good stretch. Focusing of the mind. Breathing out stale air. Releasing tension from the body. Enriching the spirit by coming together. A good workout of the mind, body and soul. Who knew? Only those who choose to look and listen and open themselves to change. Definitely worth it!
The word “yoga” means “union” and refers to the spiritual union between the mind and the body. By controlling the breath and holding the body in steady poses or “asanas”, yoga creates harmony within the body. Asanas are specifically designed to sculpt the body, release muscular tension, and tone internal organs. By linking breath with movement, yoga strengthens the mind-body connection. All skill levels are welcome at Yoga By Robin. If you are new to yoga, this is a great place to begin your practice in Marlton. Bring your mat, an open mind, and a willingness to discover new possibilities. We recommend wearing athletic clothing that allows you to move comfortably. Our experienced instructors provide assists to support your practice and help you move freely into the full expression of each pose. You are welcome to try any class at Yoga By Robin. Please be aware that the pacing may be a bit faster in an advanced-levels class and our instructors do not always teach modifications. We encourage you to do as much as you feel comfortable doing and know that you can take child’s pose at any time.
Our skillful instructors help experienced yogis go deeper in their practice while respecting individual needs. We encourage all yogis to move towards a mindful practice that balances the physicality of asanas with breath work and meditation.
